Walima / Reception outfits to rent or buy
The walima is the reception the groom's family hosts, and it is the most formal night of the week. Think polished rather than loud: structured silhouettes, metallics, jewel tones, and a dupatta you can actually keep on your shoulder through dinner.

About walima / reception dressing
The walima sits at the formal end of the wedding week. The mehndi is for color you can dance in and the baraat is for saturation, but the walima is the one where the room is seated, the lighting is warm, and everyone is photographed at a table. Structure reads better than volume here. A sharp jacket set, a well cut gown, a peplum over a flared lehenga, a long shirt with a heavy dupatta: all of it photographs well sitting down, which is most of the night.
Metallics do a lot of work at a walima. Antique gold, champagne, silver and the deep jewel tones hold up under warm banquet lighting in a way pastels sometimes do not. If you want color, take it deep rather than bright.
Hall floors are hard and the night is long, so the hem matters more than it does at a mehndi. If a piece pools at the back, you will be gathering it every time you stand. Pick a length you can walk in.
Dupatta weight is the other quiet decision. A heavy embroidered dupatta looks right in photographs and slides off all night. A lighter organza or net drape stays where you put it. Safety pins are your friend either way.
If you are traveling for the wedding and the walima is the last event, that is usually the piece you want to be the strongest. It is the one people remember.
